Community Workshops
As the initial activity of the development
of the Dallas Comprehensive Plan, the City will host eight community
workshops at eight different locations in the City beginning
in early November. The workshops will be open to all. At these "hands-on" workshops,
participants will engage in a mapping exercise designed to allow
them to share their ideas for patterns of development over the
next several decades. The sites for these workshops were selected
based on regional significance, geographic distribution, and
transferability so that the ideas and solutions generated by the
workshops may be used as models in other parts of the City.
City Workshops
The City of Dallas will host Citywide Vision Workshops in late
January to craft a citywide vision for the future. These
workshops will be interactive and open to all, and will focus on
applying the lessons learned during the Community Workshops to
different parts of the City. The goal of these workshops
will be to enable participants to help staff and consultants develop
several alternative scenarios for Dallas' future, based on different
choices of development types, transportation modes, and economic
development options. These scenarios will be evaluated and brought
back to the community for further input and identification of a
viable shared vision.
